How do I cook in Direct Mode? In Direct mode, the Tasty app is optional. You can read and set cooking temperature from the Tasty app, but you must turn on the cooktop and control power levels via the buttons on the front of the cooktop. Note: The Tasty One Top is currently only available for iOS operating systems on the iPhone. Cooking in Direct Mode First, connect the One Top to the app as described in How do I connect to the Tasty app? To cook in Direct mode: Plug the cooktop into a 120V socket. Press the + button on the cooktop. Next press the power button on the cooktop to turn it on. Direct mode is the default cooking mode. Set your desired power level (1-10) using the +/- buttons. While cooking, use the Tasty app to read cooking temperature. When finished cooking, press the power button on the cooktop to turn it off, or turn it off via the Tasty app. Note: For more information on other One Top modes, visit Cooking Modes Overview. Can I set specific temperatures in Direct Mode? Yes. In order to set a specific temperature you will need to use the Tasty app. Through the app, even in manual cooking mode, you can see what temperature the cooktop and probe are set to. To set a specific probe or surface temperature, tap the blue "Start cooking" button from the top of the One Top tab in the Tasty app. What are the Direct Mode power levels? When using the device without the Tasty app, you can refer to the following chart for estimated temperatures. We measure how much power is being sent to the one top, not specific temperatures. We recommend using lower power settings until you identify the proper cooking levels for your specific type of cooking requires. Cooking power levels: Level Power Setting 1 100 Watt Warm 2 200 Watt Low 3 300 Watt Medium-Low 4 400 Watt Medium 5 600 Watt Medium 6 800 Watt Medium 7 1000 Watt Medium-High 8 1200 Watt Medium-High 9 1400 Watt High 10 1500 Watt Max Sear Note: Temperature ranges on chart are estimated. SAFETY FEATURE: If the power level is set to 10, the cooktop will run for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, the cooktop blinks all LEDs and sounds every 5 seconds for 1 minute. During the 1 minute warning period, press the power button to continue cooking. If you do not press the power button during the 1 minute warning period, the power level drops to 6.
