How do I use the temperature probe? If your probe displays uneven temperature readings your probe could be faulty, your device may not be getting enough power, or you could be using it incorrectly. In most cases, you can troubleshoot a readings issue right in your own home. Instructions If cooking meats or liquids, plug the temperature probe into the side of the cooktop. Without the probe plugged in, the cooktop will default to using the surface temperature thermometer. For liquids, attach the probe to the side of the pot using the included probe clip. Important: The metal probe should not touch the side or bottom of the pot. At least 1.5 inches of the probe must remain submerged for accurate readings. For meats or fish, insert the probe so the tip is in the thickest part of the food, avoiding areas of high fat or bone concentration. Note: For more information, we recommend viewing One Top 101. If you suspect your probe to be faulty, we recommend submerging the entire probe one single time in your pot to see if the readings improve.
